Purdue Calumet Hosts Olivet Nazarene in League Match Up

puc-logoThe Purdue University Calumet men's soccer team will look to keep itself atop the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference standings when league foe Olivet Nazarene travels to Crown Point for home matchup.

The Peregrines (4-3-1, 2-0-1 CCAC) will take on the Tigers (5-4, 1-1 CCAC) beginning at 3 p.m. today at the Crown Point Sports Complex.

LAST TIME OUT: Purdue Calumet allowed just one goal in two league victories last week, defeating Trinity Christian 4-1 in a home match Sept. 23 before coming out the victor in a 1-0 shutout at Trinity International on Saturday. Freshman Miguel David (Spring Valley, Calif./Bonita Vista) picked up both victories in goal for the Peregrines, pushing his record to 4-2-1 at keeper. JP Garza (San Antonio, Texas/Reagan) scored the game winner in Saturday's match, a goal just before the half via the aid of an assist from Nicolau Monteiro (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil/IBMEC).

SCOUTING THE TIGERS: Olivet Nazarene received 13 votes in the latest NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches Top 25 Poll. The Tigers are coming off Saturday's 3-2 overtime win over Judson. Miguel Fierro scored the game winner in the 94th minute to lift ONU to the win. Aaron Chatfield leads the Tigers with four goals and five assists, while Austin Miller has started all eight games in goal, recording a 1.16 goals against average to go along with 20 saves.

PEREGRINE LEADERS: David lead the CCAC in goals against average (1.10), as he's given up just eight goals in 656 minutes this season. Junior Papa Otoo (Bradenton, Fla./Braden River) leads the Peregrines on the offensive side with four goals and two assists.

SERIES HISTORY: The Peregrines lost a close 2-1 decision at ONU in 2013. Tom Hardy (Heddon-on-the-Wall, England/Newcastle Aviation) scored the Peregrines' lone goal in the setback. The two teams did not face each other in 2012.
