Meneghetti to Step Down as Purdue Calumet Men’s Golf Coach

PUC-PeregrinsPurdue University Calumet head coach Matt Meneghetti announced he will be stepping down following his fifth season at the helm of the Peregrines' men's golf program.

“We appreciate Matt’s years of service to the Purdue University Calumet golf program,” said Director of Athletics Rick Costello. “He has built the foundation for the golf program at Purdue Calumet and we wish him the best as he moves forward.”

Meneghetti started the Black and Gold’s men’s golf program in 2010, as part of the second stage of the University’s athletic expansion plan. Under Meneghetti’s watch, the Peregrines had two Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic selections, two NAIA Daktronics Scholar-Athlete awards and one CCAC Golfer of the Week honors, in addition to an NAIA All-Scholar Team nod in 2014.

This past fall, the Peregrines set a new team single-round record with a score of 298 in their eventual third-place finish at the Mike Lalaeff Memorial Invitational. Purdue Calumet finished seventh at the CCAC Championships last Spring and had their best-ever finish in 2013, placing fifth.

“It’s been a great ride starting a program from scratch and taking it to the next level,” Meneghetti said. “This young team will be strong for years to come.”

Purdue Calumet will begin a national search for the Peregrines’ next head coach immediately.
