Randy Wexter Named Head Men’s Golf Coach at Purdue Calumet

PUC-PeregrinsRandy Wexter has been named the Purdue University Calumet men’s golf coach, as announced by Director of Athletics Rick Costello Tuesday.

“On behalf of Purdue University Calumet, I am thrilled to welcome Randy Wexter to Team Peregrine,” Costello said. “ With over 25 years of teaching experience as a golf professional, I am excited to have Randy Wexter coach the Peregrine Men’s Golf program.

“I look forward to Coach Wexter’s amazing energy, enthusiasm, and leadership of the Peregrines on and off the links.”

Wexter comes to Purdue Calumet after 24 years as a Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) Professional at Calumet Country Club in Homewood, Ill. He also held the Director of Golf, General Manager and Consulting General Manager positions during his time at Calumet CC.

"Purdue University Calumet men's golf is a young program, and I am excited to be a part of this Peregrine team and the athletic department," Wexter said.

"Hopefully, I can make an impact and continue to contribute to the growth of the program and student-athletes here."

Wexter has also held golf professional positions at Point O’ Woods Golf & Country Club in Benton, Harbor, Mich. and Dubuque Golf & Country Club in Dubuque, Iowa. He is a Class "A" member of the PGA.

On the coaching side, the New Lenox, Ill., resident has given numerous individual and group lessons, (including collegiate and professional golfers) and volunteered as an instructor for Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference member Trinity Christian College, Homewood-Flossmoor High School, and New Lenox Public Schools.

Wexter holds his bachelor’s degree in communication and public relations from Northern Iowa. He is a native of Waterloo, Iowa, and lives in New Lenox with his wife, Sara.

Together they have four children, Halligan, Jenna, Connor and Michael.
