Purdue Calumet Adds Garcia, Brown to Women’s 2015 Class

PUC-Purdue-Calumet-Adds-Garcia-Brown-to-Womens-2015-ClassPurdue University Calumet head women’s cross country coach Stephanie Beck added a pair of runners to her 2015 recruiting class with the addition of Alejandra Garcia and Ceara Brown.

“Alejandra and Ceara bring a new level of leadership and important depth to our women’s team,” Beck said of the pair, who are both current Purdue Calumet students. “They will be make an immediate impact in many different areas of Peregrine cross country.”

Garcia, a 2012 graduate of Lowell High School, will be a senior at Purdue Calumet, where she’s a double major in nursing and Spanish. The daughter of Arturo and Olivia Garcia, she was a four-year letter winner at Lowell.

Garcia is also a member of Gamma Phi Omega at Purdue Calumet.

Brown, a 2010 graduate of East Kentwood High School in Kentwood, Mich., is a current student at Purdue Calumet where she’s majoring in Hospitality and Tourism Management.

An avid runner, Brown has competed in races such as the Color Run and the Biggest Loser 5K events. She’s the daughter of Jennifer and Joe Brown.

The Peregrine women finished the 2014 season with complete team scores in all eight meets, highlighted by the team’s second-place finish at the IU East Regional Campus Rumble Aug. 29, 2014.

The Black and Gold's will look to improve upon its 10th place finish at the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Championships.
