Ancona, Brozovich Ink NLIs with Men’s Tennis

VU-Ancona-Brozovich-Ink-NLIs-with-Mens-TennisHead coach Jim Daugherty announced the addition of two future Crusaders to the men's tennis program Wednesday.

Brandon Ancona and Franklin Brozovich will be joining the Crusader men's team beginning next fall.

"We are lucky to have two great young men coming in next fall in Brandon and Franklin," Daugherty said.

Ancona carries a 220th national ranking according to tennisrecruiting.net, in addition to three-star status. The Rockford Christian senior is ranked 5th overall in the state of Illinois and 22nd in the Great Lakes region.

On the doubles side, Ancona was a 2015 Midwest Open champion. In singles play, he claimed a Northern Illinois B18s Qualifying championship. A third team All-State selection this past spring, Ancona has qualified for the state tournament each of his first three years at Rockford Christian.

"Brandon is an excellent player with an all-court game that college coaches dream of. He recently re-dedicated himself to the game after taking a couple years to focus on golf, and his ranking and game have shot up significantly in the past few months. As Brandon begins to fill out physically and hone his game against the nation's best competition, he will surely be a force to be reckoned with in the Horizon League and nationally, along with Franklin," Daugherty said.

Brozovich, a four-year letterwinner at Port Huron Northern High School in Michigan, is a four-star recruit according to tennisrecruiting.net. He's ranked 23rd in the Midwest region and 189th nationally.

A four-time regional champion, Brozovich received honorable mention All-State accolades his freshman season before earning All-State recognition each of the next three years. He played at No. 1 singles all four years while maintaining a 4.0 grade point average. Brozovich is active as a four-year member of National Honor Society and student council.

"Franklin is a well-rounded player with a big serve and a steady ground game. He is a hard worker and is always willing to put in the extra time and effort to maximize his potential. As he continues to work on his offensive game and net play, he will become an impact player for us," Daugherty concluded.
