Purdue Calumet’s Lori Haas Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District Honors

PUC-Womens-Tennis-Lori-Haas-Named-CoSIDA-Academic-All-DistrictPurdue University Calumet women’s tennis senior Lori Haas was named to the 2015-16 CoSIDA Academic All-District 2 College Division Team, as announced by the organization Thursday.

Haas (Bismarck, Ill./Bismarck-Henning), who recently graduated with a 4.0 cumulative grade point average and a bachelor’s degree in history, earned her second-straight CoSIDA All-District honor, after earning the award in 2015. She now qualifies for a chance to earn her second-straight CoSIDA Academic All-American honor, which will be voted upon and then released June 6.

Haas led the Peregrines at No. 1 singles with a 9-2 mark, with her only two losses coming to CCAC title match teams, No. 5 Cardinal Stritch and No. 18 Olivet Nazarene. At No. 1 doubles, Haas finished 6-7 with teammates Ashley Pabey and Abby Kvachkoff, as she helped lead the program to it second straight CCAC postseason tournament victory in 2016.

Haas, who is a two-time recipient of the NAIA Scholar-Athlete award, finishes her career as the program's all-time wins leader in both singles (29) and doubles (20), with all of her 29 wins at singles coming in the No. 1 slot, where she was 29-11 (.725).

She was named the program's first-ever CCAC Player of the Week to cap the regular-season in 2016.

The 2015-16 CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large teams, which include the sports of women’s tennis, women’s lacrosse, women’s swimming, women’s golf, women’s crew, women’s beach volleyball, women’s ice hockey, women’s field hockey, women’s fencing, women’s rifle, women’s skiing, women’s water polo, women’s bowling, and women’s gymnastics, are voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America and recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.

Nominees must be at least a junior status both athletically and academically, be at their respective institutions a minimum of one calendar year, be a starter or important reserve, and carry a minimum 3.30 cumulative GPA.
