The pitching duo will be representing the Eastern Division in the NYCBL All-Star game on Thursday, July 14, held at Onondaga Community College in Syracuse, N.Y.

Sandoval (Highland, Ind./Bishop Noll) recently completed his junior season in 2015-16, whileSkiff (Dyer, Ind./Andrean) wrapped up his sophomore season last spring.

“It’s an awesome honor to be selected to the NYCBL All-Star team,” Sandoval said. “Last year, me and Jimmy made the Midwest Collegiate All-Star team together, but on separate teams.

"This year, we get to represent the same team, which is pretty cool.”

Both Sandoval and Skiff pitch for the Syracuse Jr. Chiefs, who are currently in second place in the Eastern Division and only 3 and 1/2 games back of the top spot.

Sandoval is ranked second in the NYCBL in strikeouts with 46 total on the season, trailing the first-ranked pitcher by just one punchout. He also leads all starters on the Jr. Chiefs roster with a 2.29 ERA while allowing 37 hits in 47 innings of work.

Skiff also ranks at the top of the Jr. Chiefs pitching staff, sitting right behind Sandoval for second in strikeouts with 33, while holding down a 4.00 ERA.

The 6-foot-1 right-hander also owns a 4-1 record on the mound, which ranks him first on the team and second in the NYCBL in wins.

“Last year’s all-star game was local, so I knew more people going into that game than I will this year,” Skiff said. “It will be cool to meet even more guys, being so far from home.”
