VU-Golder-Earns-Spot-on-MVC-All-Bench-TeamValparaiso University men’s basketball sophomore Markus Golder (Portland, Ore./Clackamas [North Idaho]) has been named to the Missouri Valley Conference’s All-Bench Team, as selected by the conference’s beat reporters.

Golder found his niche as the Crusaders’ sixth man this year, averaging 9.4 points per game while leading the team in 3-point percentage (41.9%) and free throw percentage (81.7%) and ranking second on the squad in rebounding with 4.4 boards per game. The sophomore, who came off the bench in all but one MVC game this season, closed out the season strong, as he scored in double figures in each of Valpo’s last seven games – the longest streak by a Crusader coming off the bench since Stalin Ortiz in 2002-03.

Golder is the third Crusader to earn postseason honors from The Valley this year, as Bakari Evelyn was named to the conference’s All-Newcomer Team and Tevonn Walker earned a spot on the All-Defensive Team.
