Gary SouthShore Railcats 2018 Season Revs Up!

You don’t have to love baseball to have a blast at a RailCats game.

The Gary SouthShore RailCats 2018 season is now underway. Game after game is lined up with rivals such as the Chicago Dogs facing off with the RailCats, but there are a ton of other events that will draw crowds out to the field this summer!

The U.S. Steel Yard boasts more than just the odd foul ball; on any given game night, ticket holders can expect entertainment between innings and a belly full of delicious ballpark grub. Monday nights are All You Can Eat Nights, where a $10 wristband grants you unlimited access to hot dogs, popcorn, and peanuts. Tuesday games host—you guessed it—Taco Tuesdays: tacos are $2 and margaritas are just $5.

Reaching the middle of the week can be a drag or a victory, depending on one’s perspective, but Wednesdays are always a celebration at the Steel Yard. Every Wednesday, the Gary SouthShore RailCats host Pretzel Day (Bavarian pretzels for $2.50!), Wine Wednesday ($4 Barefoot Wine products!) and “The Office” Night, honoring one of America’s favorite television shows by auctioning off a jersey showcasing iconic episodes.

Guests can entertain themselves with Beer and Dog Thursdays and $5 cocktails on Sunday Fundays.

But don’t believe that only the adults are allowed their fun!

Kid friendly activities are abundant at the Steel Yard. On the weekends, the Gary SouthShore RailCats host Kids Run the Bases, letting junior take a turn at the field. Friday nights entertain Sandlot Night, Scout Night Campouts, and spectacular Fifth Third Fireworks Friday.

Some specific dates to keep in mind are June 1, which will be Princesses and Pirates Night at the Steel Yard, and June 17, where dads get a free ticket with the purchase of a child’s ticket. It is Father’s Day, after all.

The Gary SouthShore RailCats provide resourceful and educational ties to the community, as well.

NorthShore Health Centers Wednesdays also takes place at the Steel Yard, with various booths offering information and promotions to patrons.

On June 20, Residential Clinical Services is hosting a Home Health Fair at the Steel Yard, and on July 24, Methodist Hospitals is presenting their Strike Out Stroke event.

Beyond the additional perks of attending a regular game at the Steel Yard, there are entire Festival Days to look forward to this summer.

On July 4, the RailCats are hosting their 4th of Juluau Pig Roast, presented by Berey Bros. The event includes a special performance by the Barefoot Hawaiian fire twirlers and hula dancers, and an all-you-can-eat pig roast. To cap off the night, an Independence Day Fireworks Super Show will dazzle attendees.

The Berey Bros. will present another festival on July 21; their R&R Jamaican Beach Party is sure to put ticket holders in the chillest of moods with its island-themed buffet and music. Mark the calendars for August 18 for the AmeriCAN Beer Fest. A definite crowd-pleaser, this event will pay tribute to traditionally American beers and includes a “slugger meal” of hot dogs, chips, and sodas.

These events are just a sampling of the fun in store for the Gary SouthShore RailCats 2018 season. To find more to look forward to, visit http://railcatsbaseball.com.
