Seven Crimson Wave Programs Named to 2017-18 NAIA Scholar Teams List

Seven-Crimson-Wave-Programs-Named-to-2017-18-NAIA-Scholar-Teams-ListThe goal of any collegiate athletics program is to make sure that all of their student-athletes not only excel on the playing field, but in the classroom as well. This is certainly the case at Calumet College of St. Joseph. When the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the scholar teams for the 2017- 18 school year, Crimson Wave Athletics were honored to see seven of their programs included on the prestigious list.

All 1,862 teams that earned the honor nationwide had to qualify for the recognition using the same criteria: they must obtain a minimum 3.0 grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) as defined by the institution. The team grade point average includes all eligible varsity student-athletes on their respective rosters.

Seven of the Wave's 19 programs made the list, and are named below in the order of best overall GPA:

  • Women's Cross Country (3.58)
  • Softball (3.42)
  • Women's Outdoor Track and Field (3.35)
  • Women's Basketball (3.25)
  • Women's Indoor Track and Field (3.25)
  • Men's Cross Country (3.09)
  • Men's Outdoor Track and Field (3.05)
