DAC Gymnastics Close Call

The DAC Gymnastics Championship took place at VHS this weekend, with eight schools competing for a shot at number one. Every school started off strong, with fair scores in bars, balance beam, floor and vault, but as the meet continued, it was clear who the top competitors were. It was a painfully close conclusion, and it came down to the last event for the top three teams. However, in the end, a mere half point away, Chesterton beat out Valparaiso for the number one DAC Championship spot. The screams from Chesterton were enough to tell who won, without having to look at the scores.
The top three were Chesterton at 110.425, Valparaiso at 109.975, and Portage at 109.55. Laporte came in fourth at 107.7, Merrillville at 104.725, Crown Point at 104.95, Lake Central at 97.25 and Michigan City at 95.1.
Despite the team scores, VHS senior, Steffanie Long, took home the most 1st place medals and received 1st place All-Around.
