VHS Baseball Team Raises Funds at Annual Cut-A-Thon

The Valparaiso High School baseball team kicked off the start of its season on Sunday with the annual "Cut-A-Thon" Fundraiser put together by head coach Dave Coyle and assistant coaches Todd Evans and Chad Evans. The public fundraiser was held at Locks of Fun and all proceeds go straight to the baseball program.

Coyle explained a little bit about the fundraiser and expressed his gratitude to Locks of Fun for allowing the fundraiser to take place.

"Instead of asking the team to go out door to door trying to sell things back to the community, they can just come in and get their hair cut,” he said. “All the proceeds go back into Valparaiso baseball. We just opened it up to the general public and we want to thank Locks of Fun for donating their time. All these ladies are here doing this to allow us to make a nice little benefit and give back to the players and all the things that go into the cost of running the program. We are very fortunate that Locks of Fun helped us out, and we are really excited about the fact they are giving us the opportunity to raise some funds."

The Valparaiso baseball team has been doing this fundraiser for three years now, but this year was the first year Locks of Fun has hosted it. The baseball players, along with athletes from other sports at the Valparaiso High School, came to support the team by getting a $15 haircut. Coyle was very pleased with the turn out and was thankful for his players and Locks of Fun for partaking in this fundraiser and for overall helping to support Valparaiso Athletes.
