Andrean Stays at No. 1, La Porte Up to No. 9 in Latest RSN Poll

rsn-logoAfter much excitement during the opening weekend of prep football in the region, Region Sports Network has updated their Top 10 rankings. Nine of the ten teams ranked before week one remain on the list, with the La Porte Slicers making their debut this season at No. 9.

Andrean High School retains the number one spot after a 65-0 win over Bishop Noll on opening night. The 59ers will have their top ranking tested this Friday in a No. 1 vs. No. 2 version of the "Battle of Broadway" when they visit arch-rival Merrillville, who retains the RSN's No. 2 ranking after a 35-28 win over South Bend Clay on opening night.

Following the two Broadway rivals in the top five of the RSN poll are Munster, Crown Point and Morton. The Mustangs earned an impressive 24-21 win at Lake Central last week. The Indians dropped in the poll from No. 3 to No. 6 with the loss.

Lowell, Hobart, La Porte and Whiting rounded out the top ten. La Porte is an interesting case in 2014, coming off a solid win at rival New Prairie last week. The Slicers are coming off two one-win seasons, but look primed to be the turnaround team in 2014.
