Hoosier Basketball Magazine Tabs 2016 Top 60 Senior Boys

Below is a list of Hoosier Basketball Magazine's Top 60 senior boys’ basketball players for 2015-2016 as compiled by Garry H. Donna, publisher of Hoosier Basketball Magazine. These boys were selected from approximately 1,600 senior players statewide.

Ten players that participated in the 2016 IHSAA State Finals highlight the list of the Top 60 invitees. All eight IHSAA State Finalist teams have a Top 60 Senior Workout participant. There are four from the AAA championship contest. Two represent the AAA Champion Marion Giants— Vijay Blackmon and Reggie Jones— and two are from AAA runner-up Evansville Bosse— Erick Bell and Ethan Thomas. Three more state champion participants are Josh Jefferson, New Albany (AAAA), Kamron Herrington, Lapel (AA) and Franklin Nunn, Liberty Christian (A). The other three runner-up teams are represented by Darnell Butler, McCutcheon (AAAA), Erik Bell, Evansville Bosse (AAA), Brian Warren, Indianapolis Howe (AA) and Brandon Van Sant, Bloomfield (A).

Four high scoring players who averaged more than 25 ppg are also Top 60 Senior selections. They include the state’s leading scorer Eugene German, Gary 21st Century (33.5 ppg) along with Desmond Bane, Seton Catholic (30), Ryan Coble, Greencastle (27.9) and Marcus Burk, Franklin Central (25.3). Indiana University recruit Grant Gelon, Crown Point, Butler bound Joey Brunk, Southport and Evansville signee Dru Smith, Evansville Reitz will also participate.

Statistical evaluation, game observation and statewide research were conducted throughout the season and the 2016 state tournament to determine Hoosier Basketball Magazine’s Top 60.

Two sessions of the Top 60 Senior Workout will be hosted on Sunday, April 10, 2016 by Hoosier Basketball Magazine, in conjunction with the IHSAA and the IBCA, on the campus of Marian University in Indianapolis.

Boys primarily from Northern and Southern Indiana will participate in the first session (1:00-3:00 pm EST). The remaining players, mostly from Central Indiana, will compete during the second session (3:30-5:30 pm EST).

Coach Brent Chitty (Columbus East) will direct both sessions. Four other outstanding IBCA coaches— Chad Ballenger (Hamilton Heights), Matt Britton (Bloomfield) Brandon Hoffman (Silver Creek) and Dave Ogle (Warsaw) have been invited to assist with on court coaching.

Both sessions are open to the public for admission fee of $8.00 ($5 for students). Media can call (317) 925-8200 if interested in credentials for one or both sessions. The Top 60 boys follow.
