Brys Signs With Crusader Volleyball Program

Valparaiso University volleyball head coach Carin Avery announced today that Marissa Brys, an outside hitter from Washington Township H.S., has signed with the Crusader volleyball program and will join Valpo as a freshman for the 2017 season.

“We’re excited to welcome Marissa to the Valpo volleyball program,” said Avery. “We’ve seen Marissa in our camps at Valpo over the years and watched her as she’s grown into an athletic outside hitter. She had a successful high school career at Washington Township, and we always enjoy the chance to bring in local players to our program.”

Brys was a two-time All-Conference selection for the Senators, helping Washington Township to 19 wins as a senior as she earned Honorable Mention All-Area recognition from the NWI Times. A four-year letterwinner, Brys was team MVP and team captain in each of her final two seasons. She was named MVP of the Indiana Elite North-South Class 1A Seniors Division game in 2015. A versatile athlete, Brys set Washington Township’s indoor track record in the 50m dash as a senior.

Brys will be the seventh newcomer for the Crusaders entering the 2017 campaign, joining the six who put their names on the dotted line last fall during the early signing period.
