The Kellen Mogck Memorial Scholarship was awarded to 4 Valparaiso High School student athletes on Wednesday May 24th.
- Ingrid Wagner - $1000 Track Scholarship - She will be attending Indiana University
- Sara Lynch - $1500 Track Scholarship - She will be attending Purdue University
- Patrick Kelly - $1500 Football Scholarship - He will be attending Wabash College
- Zachary Jones - $1000 Football Scholarship - He will be attending St. Louis University
The Kellen Mogck Memorial Scholarship was created in 2004 in memory of Kellen Mogck who died from injuries from an auto accident while attending DePauw University. He was a 2003 graduate of Valparaiso High School where he excelled both in the classroom and in athletics. He was a 4 year letter winner in track, where he was a state qualifier in long jump and 300M hurdles, and a 3 year letter winner in football, where he was a receiver/kick returner on the 2001 State Runner-Up team and the 2002 Semi-State team.
Over the last 13 years, scholarships have been awarded to 51 VHS student athletes totaling $75,000. The Scholarship Fund was recently endowed and is under the management of the Porter County Community Foundation, so there will be scholarships available to future VHS student athletes in perpetuity.
