BFMS 8th Grade Basketball Recap: vs. Crown Point Taft

The 8th Grade Boys Conference Tournament is always a pressure cooker-type situation for the teams in the Lake-Porter Conference, with each team battling for bragging rights and perhaps seeking a bit of vengeance.

Last night for the BF, there was a little extra pressure – the squad was down 3 players from the regular season, and the opposing coach was very familiar with many of Coach Oz’s secret strategies. Add to that foul trouble for a starter and one might think the Vikes struggled in their game against Crown Point Taft; however, the complete opposite was true as BF bounced the Bulldogs with a 63 to 23 thumping. Leading the offense, Justin Osburn torched the twines for 21 points, followed by Brendan Sutherland and Serph Decker, who each knocked down 9. Brendan also led the team in assists with 5, while in the paint, Triston and Trent controlled the boards.

Defensively, the Vikes were also stalwart as Justin and Alex Healy each picked off 3 steals to lead the way. BF continues its quest for the tourney title tonight, taking on Fegely in the second game, following Chesterton taking on Hobart.
