BFMS Boys & Girls Track Recap: Vs. TJMS

Boys: Tuesday’s track meet for the 8th grade boys against TJ served as another statement that they are indeed improving as they dominated most events with a 46-point win. BF swept in 3 events, starting with the high jump squad of Madrigal, Fortson, and Greco; the hurdles’ group of Fortson, Johnson, and Scarsella; and long jump trio of Kovar, Decker, and Huppmann.

In addition, BF went 1-2 in the 100 behind Johnson and Madrigal; 1-2 in the 200 with Kovar and Dawson; 1st and 3rd in the shot with Cornett and Scheidenberger; 2nd and 3rd in the 1600 behind Hickey and Florio; 2nd and 3rd in the 800 with Hickey and Gerry; and took a 3rd in the 400 with Decker. In addition, the 4X100 relay dominated while the 4X200 team knocked more than a second off its own school record time.

Girls: The 6th Girls Track Team kept their winning streak alive with a thrilling (51-45) come from behind victory. BFMS trailed most of the meet due to some good performances by TJ and unfortunate injuries as it came down to the last relay for victory  The 1600 relay team of Mia Catarello, Julia Dooley, Sam Enloe, and Ellie Joll ran their best time to date at 4:50 to seal the deal. Other first places went to Kailey Clapp (HJ), Gillian Johnson (Hurdles), Sam Enloe (400m), Olivia Vinyard (100m), and Ellie Joll (1600/800m). Lilly York, Reagen Plothow, Lexi Ferngren, Sydnye Nosbush, and Julia Dooley also collected ribbons. Congratulation on a TEAM victory as everyone is giving 100% effort.

The Lady Vikes have their last home meet this Thursday against Portage Fegely.  The 7th grade girls’ track team came home with another impressive victory by crushing their cross-town rivals 75-21.  First place finishers were: Chojecki, Frazier, Fullencamp, and Amigo in the 800 relay, Pixley in the hurdles, Amigo in the 100, Chiabai in the mile and 800, Karlie in the 400, Van Drie, Mikenas, Fullencamp, and Friedlander in the 1600 Relay, Pisarski in the LJ, and Katie Thorn in the HJ.  2nd place went to: Mundell in the mile and 800, Van Drie in the 400, Amigo in the 200, Karlie in the LJ, Kickbush in the HJ, and Stiscak in the SP. 3rd place finishers were: Anslem in the hurdles, Chojecki in the 100, Mikenas in the 400, and Bailey in the HJ. Nice job ladies!  The 8th grade girls’ track team lost a close meet last night by the score of 54-42.

First place ribbons were handed to the following girls: Walls in the 400, Willing in the 800, and the 1600 relay team of Greubel, Walls, Martin, and Willing. 2nd places ribbons went to: Szmagaj in the 100 and 200, Gazdich in the mile, Greubel in the 400, Sever in the LJ, Novak in the HJ, and Veljovic in the SP.  3rd places finishers were: Martin in the hurdles, Yallourakis in the 100, Gazdich in the 800, Boyes in the LJ, and Rodriguez in the HJ. Almost ladies!!
