Registration is now open for the 4th annual Kent's Run 5K. Thus Year's event will be held on Saturday, May 28, at 8 a.m. The start and finish will occur at Boone Grove Middle School (325 W. 550 S., Boone Grove, IN 46302).

All race participants will be automatically entered into a drawing for a guitar autographed by country music star Kenny Chesney*. The guitar is a Paul Reed Smith USA made Starla X in a limited run Antique White PRS with a retail price of $1200.00. The winner of the guitar will be announced at the awards ceremony after the race. For more information about the guitar, go to www.PRSguitars.com and search Starla X.

Kent's Run 5K was established in 2008 to honor the life of Kent Ribordy, a Boone Grove High School student-athlete who passed away after a battle with leukemia. Kent was a resident of LaPorte, Indiana, before moving to the Valparaiso (Porter Township) area. All proceeds raised during this event benefit The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Online registration is available at www.KentsRun.com, and the cost is $25. Participants will receive a cool tech t-shirt, a finisher's medal, and a race bag full of goodies. The race provides a water station, live music along the course, a great finish area with attentive volunteers, awards for the top male and female finishers as well as trophies for the top three runners in each age group. All participants will be treated to a great country-style pancake breakfast after the race and prior to the awards ceremony. Plenty of free parking is available at the race site.

Race day registration is available for $30. Race day registrants are not guaranteed a t-shirt or race bag.

In 2010 there were over 800 participants in Kent's Run, and $30,000 was donated to The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. To date, Kent's Run has raised over $76,000 for this charity.

In 2011 Kent's Run 5K is proud to welcome Walgreens as its presenting sponsor. Kent's Run would also like to thank its wonderful volunteers and other major sponsors: Applegarth Dermatology, Crop for Kent, CSiNET, Graeber Farms, Graves Lumber Company, Opthalmic Plastic Surgery, Pioneer Seed Company, Reeder's Auto Service, Ribordy Family Farms, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Team in Training, and Vision Event Management.

Kent's Run 5K is just another example of the exceptional things that can occur when communities rally together!
