On the crisp fall morning of September 29th over 230 runners came out to compete in the first annual Run Into Fall 10K race and 1 Mile Kids Fun Run at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Valparaiso.
Racheal Marchand won the 10K race with a time of 35:57.8. Jon Borman followed in second with a time of 36:54.1
The 10K runners were competing for hand-made bronze medallions crafted by local copper artist Greg Engel.
Carson Parrish won the 1 Mile Kids Run in a time of 6:44.2.
Over 120 volunteers dressed in brightly colored vests directed and cheered runners along the course through mostly neighborhood streets of Valparaiso.
Plans are already being made for the second annual race that will take place the end of September 2013.
The event raised over $1,500 for the Immanuel Food Pantry. The food pantry is a non-profit organization affiliated with the Food Bank of Northwest Indiana.
