Robbie Hummel, Free Basketball Camp, and Valparaiso Family YMCA, Together – a Winning Combination

Robbie-Hummel-Camp-BBall-2013Rob Hummel, a Valparaiso native, always loves giving back to his community. This Valparaiso High School star, Purdue NCAA Men’s All American 2010 & 2012 player and NBA Timberwolf, will be giving two free basketball camps on Saturday, August 9th at the Valparaiso Family YMCA. Registration is open to members and non-members; it is first come, first serve. Come in person or go to valpoymca.org to register. The first camp is from 10:00 am to noon for grades 1st to 5th and from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. for grades 6th to 10th grade.

This is the second year in a row Rob has generously offered his time and talent to come out for a day to teach this camp. The Robbie Hummel Basketball Camp will provide individual instruction on shooting, ball handling, passing, and defense and team concepts.

Additionally, the Y received 72 new basketballs from the NBA. They will be used for this camp. The Valparaiso Family YMCA is one of more than 200 Ys nationwide to receive a donation of basketballs this summer. This program is an extension of the NBA Cares Season of Giving activation. At retail, the league will continue to work with all DICK’S Sporting Goods locations nationwide and Spalding to donate basketballs to NBA Cares community partners such as the YMCA.
