IU Northest RedHawks Volleyball Team Holds First 2015 Summer Volleyball Camp

IUN-Volleyball-Camp-2015The IU Northest RedHawks Volleyball Team held their first Summer Volleyball Camps the week of July 6, 2015. Youth, Middle School and High School players joined the RedHawks in a fun, but intense three day volleyball experience. Several high school players also took part in a recruiting session, where third year Head Coach Diane White shared her insights about the recruiting process and how to get noticed.

"This was a fun experience for both the campers and the RedHawks", shared White. "Teaching volleyball is one of the best ways to advance your game, and the players did a fabulous job sharing their knowledge and ability.". What set the RedHawk Camp apart was that the High School players received an opportunity to play alongside the college players…not just learn from them. "We had the opportunity to place the high schoolers in a position where they could play right along with the college team…they gained a lot of confidence in that experience".

Younger campers enjoyed being paired with a RedHawk "Big Sister", and working with that player all week. This really inspired many of the young players to continue working to improve their game. The RedHawks enjoyed being able to inspire younger players, while improving their own skills in the process. "We worked very hard on practicing and teaching fundamentals to each camper", added White.

The 2015 RedHawks are continuing to build a strong volleyball program at IUN. The season kicks off with a match at Governor's State on August 25th. The first home match will be against rival Purdue North Central on Thursday, August 27th…game time is 7:00 pm, with warm ups beginning at 6:00. Join us for a great experience in 2015!
