Indiana College and Career Readiness Standards: PTSC Weekly Update

porter-township-schools-logoAs you may have read in the newspaper, Indiana has been working on College and Career Readiness Standards and by law has until July 1, 2014 to adopt such standards.

Indiana decided to pull out of the Common Core Standards, although teachers have been utilizing these standards for the past two years and school corporations have spent time and money revising curriculum and providing professional development on the standards.

Along with pulling out of the Common Core Standards, Indiana released a draft of their standards in February. There was time allowed for public input on the standards and the Indiana Department of Education has taken that input to inform this final version of the Indiana College and Career Readiness Standards. You can view these standards on the Indiana Department of Education website. Make sure you are viewing Draft #2. These standards have been given to the Indiana Education Roundtable for review and they will make their recommendation to the State Board of Education at the end of April.
