The first day of school is always a nerve-wrecking and stressful time, especially for new students. This time, I was the new student, and had no clue what to expect.

When I walked into the school, I didn't know where to go nor did I have friends to conquer the first day of high school with. I had so many emotions going on at once. I didn't know how to feel or what to think, but I carried on with my day anyway because maybe I'd meet someone or I'd see someone I knew. As soon as I went to my locker, a guy came up to me and said "Hi!." Nervously, I said 'hi' back and he offered to show me where my classes were and introduced me to some of his friends. Pleasantly surprised, I said yes. That had already made my day a lot better than when I first walked in.

Throughout my morning classes I saw his friends so I always had people to sit with and talk to. Next I had to go to gym. Now that I was nervous for because I had no one to talk to or walk with. I was hoping the period would end quickly so I could go to a class where hopefully I would know someone. But once again, as soon as I thought that, another friendly person came up to me. She was a sophomore so she knows what it's like to be a high school student. She gave me tips about how to get through some of my classes and told me about the school. At the end of the day, I made quite a lot of friends. But if you're the new kid at a school, make sure you talk to people too! Be yourself and you'll fit in just fine.
