The Northwest Indiana residential real estate market continues to hold steady with an overall increase of homes sold in Porter, Lake and LaPorte counties over last year at this time, reports Jeanne Sommer, broker/owner of CENTURY 21 Alliance Group.
“The market continues to increase in residential home sales and average price, as well as a decrease in days to sell in Porter and Lake County", Sommer said.
Through October, the number of homes sold in Porter County was up 10% over last year, while the average sales price increased. In addition, the average amount of days a home was on the market decreased.
Lake County reports the same. The number of homes sold in Lake County increased 8% and the average sales price increased as well as the average number of days to sell decreased.
LaPorte County also saw an increase of sales up to 6%. The average sales price also increased.
The warm weather has helped extend the busy Summer activity into the Fall. These positive numbers lead us to believe the market is going to finish strong for 2016, said Sommer. We also hope to see Sellers continue to list so that we carry over a higher inventory into 2017 to get things off to a fast start.
