Sand Creek Country Club hosted it’s 20th annual Gingerbread House event on Friday, a beloved tradition that invites members and their families to enjoy a festive dinner and build gingerbread houses together.
“Once the pool closes around Labor Day, you don’t really get a chance to see everybody like you did in the summer,” Sand Creek Country Club member Cliff Walsh said. “And now that the kids are older, they’re not interested in seeing Santa.”
For many, this is a nice reunion of friends. For the kids, it’s a delicious opportunity to indulge their creative sides. And for the adults, it’s a great way to have fun with their families.
Nik and Dana Shields attended with their young daughters.
“I’m just looking forward to watching the kids have fun making gingerbread houses,” Nik said. He soon found there was plenty for the adults to help with, too.
Parents and their kids together found creative solutions for the icing pipes that seemed a bit too narrow for the little ones to maneuver. Moms and dads helped assemble the houses, generously looking the other way as their kids sneaked some nibbles on the gum drop and candy cane decorations.
The festive music was drowned out by children laughing and adults catching up, and the event kicked off the holiday season with great cheer for all. To learn more about the wonderful family events for Sand Creek Country Club members, visit sandcreek.com.
