Several months ago the Independent Cat Society (ICS) in Westville, IN sent out a plea for urgently needed items. I, in turn posted their request on Facebook.
One of my Facebook friends, Patty Hebert, in Boston, Massachusetts, saw this post and asked me if ICS would like her confirmation class to make cat toys for the cats. I contacted ICS and they said absolutely.
Here is her story:
My Confirmation 1 class of 9th graders are following Mother Theresa's advice to do small things with a great love. They have cut out snowflakes and sent them to Newtown, CT, written letters to service women and men overseas, and now they will sew cat toys for homeless pets. As St Francis said, "It is in giving that we receive."
Patty and I became Facebook friends when we both were commenting on blog posts by Jeff Noel @midlifecelebration.com. The neat part of this story is that I have never met Patty Hebert nor Jeff Noel. I find this truly remarkable that people I have never met are helping people they have never met.
Social media is giving us the ability to link to new friends all over the world. I can't resist……… "It's a small world after all"!
