This year Liberty Intermediate is trying to instill in the students how important it is to be involved in the community and care for what is going on around you. We are attempting our first “Day of Caring”. On May 17th, the 5th grade will participate, and on May 24th, the 6th grade will participate. Each child will be involved with one activity of community caring. The activities may include: going to Jackson Elementary, Liberty Elementary, Duneland Resale Shop and food pantry, making cards for Visiting Nurses Association to be delivered to local nursing homes, making cupcakes or cookies for the Table of Plenty at St. Pats, Chesterton Boys and Girls Club, Geminus Headstart at Westchester Intermediate School, Independent Cat Society, LIS Courtyard, Westchester Library, YMCA Day Care at Chesterton Middle School.
Your child will be involved in one of these activities. But with all 190 students participating at one time, we need parental help and a lot of it! Due to the fact that some activities need more supervision than others, please be aware you may not be with your child. Please think about sharing this important time with our students. We need around 20 volunteers for each day to help make this a success.
