Aftermath Cidery & Winery Gets Warm Reception from Community

Aftermath Cidery & Winery opened its doors to the public with a special ribbon cutting ceremony on April 27th, and has been well received by the community.

“I think Aftermath is going to fit in really well,” said Cathie Dull, a Valpo resident. “They are offering a unique product, and it’s a very hip and stylish looking place.”

While Aftermath is new to Valparaiso, Nicole Caylor, owner of Aftermath and Running Vines Winery in Chesterton, is a native.

“I was born and raised in Valpo and graduated from Valparaiso High School,” said Caylor, “For me it was coming back to my roots and coming home.”

The ribbon cutting had to occur indoors due to rainy weather, but nothing could have been more perfect. Aftermath’s theme is storms and what they leave in their wake – hence the name “Aftermath”. A portion of all sales will go towards disaster relief funds across the state.

The ciders and wines currently offered at Aftermath include:
Earthquake – dry brute style cider
Cyclone – semi-sweet cider similar to McIntosh apples
Twister – sweet cider similar to Red Delicious apples
Avalanche – semi-dry cider similar to Granny Smith apples

Lightning – lemon strawberry infused apple cider
Tsunami – pineapple infused apple cider
Hurricane – cranberry infused apple cider

“Both Running Vines and Aftermath are community-focused businesses,” Caylor said, “And we look forward to expanding our outreach.”

Aftermath is the first cidery in Northwest Indiana, and while it currently serves wine from Running Vines Caylor hopes to expand the selection of both ciders and wines unique to Aftermath and its Valpo location.

Aftermath is located at 454 S. Greenwich Street, just a few blocks from Valparaiso University’s Meteorology School (another connection to storms and weather).

“I love the growth of the University,” Caylor said, “We specifically picked this location due to the rich history behind it.”
