Bearcats move forward in February

Ending the Winter Season

With the start of February comes the end of winter sports at Wheeler. Both boys’ and girls’ teams are wrapping up their seasons and working toward postseason. The girls swim team participated in the sectional prelims on February 1 at Chesterton High School, and swimmers advanced to the sectional championship on February 2. The team placed 7th overall.

Next up, the girls basketball team competed against the Hanover Central Wildcats in an intense game on February 2 in the first round of sectionals. Although the team came up short, they have a lot to be proud of. They improved their record from last year and hope to keep improving in years to come.

Starting the New Year at Wheeler

Seussical the Musical

The upcoming production of Seussical the Musical has been long awaited. Preparation began in September of the first trimester when students auditioned. Once the roles were filled, rehearsal immediately began.

This year, atypical to previous years, they’re making the most out of the musical by adding both the high school and middle school into the production. The cast includes a wide range of ages with everyone putting in their fair share of work.

Junior Jaya Lee, who plays Mrs. Mayor in the production, said she is excited to see her fellow, talented cast members bring the show together and succeed after working so hard the past couple of months.

“I can’t just pick one thing to be excited about when I’m excited for all of it,” Lee said.

This year, Seussical the Musical will run for two weekends!...
