A Residences at Coffee Creek Employee Spotlight: Natalie Reisen

Natalie Reisen, Marketing Coordinator for Residences at Coffee Creek, didn’t know she had found her calling until she was right in the middle of it. After receiving her bachelor of arts in communications from Purdue University Northwest and her master of business administration from University of St. Francis, Reisen was looking for a position to use her business development and marketing skills.

Reisen found Residences at Coffee Creek and has been working in the sales center there since before they opened. In fact, she was the first employee at the Coffee Creek location, and quickly realized that this was where she wanted to invest her talents.

“It was fascinating being in a start-up project and I fell in love with the company from day one. I instantly hit the ground running, trying to think of the most creative ways to integrate into our community. It truly has been so much fun!” Reisen said.

Reisen has found her work with the senior community rewarding. The connections she makes with the residents and community are her favorite part of the job. She is a dedicated advocate for seniors, and works hard to be the best she can be for the families she helps.

“I am always trying to learn as much as I can so I can turn around and be a wealth of knowledge for the families that I meet with,” Reisen said. “I am always pushing myself to be informed and a good listener. I truly want to be a positive advocate for seniors and be a voice in our community for them.”

A Portage native, Reisen grew up watching her parents care for others. Her mother was an oncology nurse and her father was a firefighter, so she learned early the importance and reward of helping others.

“Throughout my whole life, they have taught me that hard work and dedication will go far. It’s one thing to tell your kids that, but it’s another to be a living example. I have been blessed with loving and hardworking parents who are true examples of helping others in their careers,” Reisen said.

Throughout her childhood and even today, Reisen has always been close to her grandparents, which also influenced her career choice.

“I’m drawn to the senior community because I have such respect for seniors, their legacy and their experiences. I learn something new every day from talking to our residents and I feel so fortunate to work in their home while getting to help others looking for a safe and enriching quality of life in their later years,” Reisen said.

Reisen stays active in the community by being a part of several different organizations. She is part of the Portage Senior Advisory Council, a member of the Duneland and Valparaiso chambers of commerce, a member of TRIAD and a local healthcare professionals networking group called Connections, and is involved with the Duneland Senior Center, Banta Senior Center, Bonner Senior Center, St. Agnes Adult Day Center, alzheimer’s and dementia organizations, and the American Heart Association.

When Reisen is not working, you will often find her wherever there is sunshine. She loves being outdoors, whether it is camping or going to the beach. She also loves spending time with her family, and the best part of her day is being with her 3-year-old son. Her dedication to caring for others will be a shining example to him.
