Description

As part of its 2019 festival, the renowned Chicago Latino Film Festival will be screening a free feature film at Purdue University Northwest (PNW) at 5 p.m. April 10 on the Hammond Campus in Room 130 of the Donald S. Powers Computing Education Building.

The presentation film, “Bernarda,” is based on Federico Garcia Lorca's play “The House of Bernarda Alba.” After the showing, the film’s director, Emilio Ruiz, and producer, Rebecca Arrosse will take audience questions.

Jose Castro, professor of Spanish at PNW, said, “This is an excellent opportunity for students and the public to see Federico Garcia Lorca's work adapted as a great contemporary film.”

On April 10, Purdue University Northwest (PNW) will be hosting a film screening, in its role as a venue partner, for the well renowned Chicago Latino Film Festival. The festival will begin at 5 p.m. on April 10 on the Hammond Campus in Powers Building room 130 and will be free and open to the public.

Now in its 35th year, the Chicago Latino Film Festival gives attendees a unique opportunity to experience what is considered to be the largest, most comprehensive, and best Latino film festival in the country. The festival presents over 100 films of cultural and social significance from Latin America, Spain, Portugal, and the USA.

Purdue Northwest was offered the opportunity to partner with the festival through the College of Humanities, Education, and Social Sciences.
