Jun 15 02:00 PM - 03:00 PM
Westchester Township History Museum - Chesterton
Westchester Township History Museum presents You Can't Get There from Here Anymore on Saturday, June 15 from 2 - 3 p.m. Join Darryl Blink, former Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore volunteer, who will give the audience a historic look at the early years and development of the lakeshore. In 1966, the National Lakeshore was laid out on land not originally owned by the federal government. Many of the buildings on this land were eventually demolished to return the area to a natural habitat. See some photographs and hear the stories of many of these areas that you can’t get to anymore.
The Westchester Township History Museum, a free cultural and educational service of Westchester Public Library, is housed in the Brown Mansion at 700 W. Porter Ave., Chesterton. For more information, call the museum at (219) 983-9715.
