"The VHS Class of 1985 got together for their 25 year reunion on Friday, July 9, 2010 at the Memorial Opera House in downtown Valpo. Every single person had a blast connecting and catching up with their former classmates and many conversations accompanied joyous laughter throughout the evening.
"As part of summer day camp programs all over Northern Indiana, YMCA's from Hammond to South Bend gathered in Portage to duel it out at the 20th Annual Day Camp Olympics. Track and field events, swimming events and a camp counselor competition took place, and a gold medalist Olympian, Bill Mulliken who won the 200-meter breast troke in the 1960 Rome Olympics, came and shared with the kids his experiences.
The Valparaiso Kiwanis recently played pianos throughout downtown, encouraging anyone and everyone to play them. It's been a huge success, with people of all ages playing the pianos. Mayor Jon Costas and Evan Costas worked together to produce this video snapshot about the Pianos on the Square.
"Watch this hilarious video as participants walked, ran, crawled, splashed and mucked their way through the 3-mile obstacle course otherwise known as the Chicagoland Mudathlon featuring lots of mud, 20 fun obstacles including hay bails, mud slides and others, and a chance to simply have a mucking good time! Over 800 people from all over the Midwest and from as far away as California participated in this adventurous event, which was held Saturday, July 24, 2010 at the Graeber Family Farm just south of Valparaiso.
This annual event celebrates volunteerism throughout Northwest Indiana by bringing together teams from local businesses, municipalities, churches and civic groups to complete projects and make significant impact on the non profit community. Held on the 3rd Friday in August, the day begins with a kickoff breakfast in each county then teams head out to the agencies where they have chosen to volunteer. The Collings Foundation's Wings of Freedom Tour came to the Porter County Airport July 26th through the 28th and gurus of flight and history came to see 3 of the most important aircraft of World War II: the B-17 Flying Fortress, the B-24 Liberator, and the P-51 Mustang. Ray Larson, who is on the board of directors at Task Force Tips, flew the P-51 and P-40 in the years after Pearl Harbor but hasn't flown one since. Until today.
"The Class of 2010 at Valparaiso High School walked their last hallway on Thursday, June 3rd, 2010 receiving their diplomas and seeing off and honoring Dr. Michael Benway, Valparaiso Schools Superintendent who will retire as superintendent this summer. A quite entertaining graduation ceremony, Mr. Miguel Rosario, guest speaker of the ceremony and Assistant Band Director at VHS, gave words of wisdom to the graduating class as well as a laugh here and there. Student speakers from the Class of 2010 and a jazz quartet rounded out the festivities for the evening before the presentation of diplomas and the sending off of the Class for the Decade.
"The 30th Annual Boy's and Girl's Club Golf Outing was a huge success as there were multitudes of eager golfers ready to tee off at Forest Park Golf Course around noontime on July 8, 2010. The outing was to benefit the Boy's and Girl's Clubs all over Porter County and sponsorships ranged from $150 to $1150. Rain delayed the outing in the beginning, but the sun came out later for a great day of golfing.

Morris, a regional leader in Northwest Indiana, serves as Deputy Commissioner of the Toll Road Oversight for the Indiana Department of Transportation as well as serving as the Chairman of the Board of the Northwest Indiana Regional Development Authority (RDA).
