Expanded and Enhanced Day Care Days at the Porter County Fair

Due to a newly formed partnership between the Porter County Fair and United Way of Porter County’s “Success By 6” program the Day Care Day Program at the fair has been enhanced and expanded for the 2011 fair.

All day care centers are encouraged to consider taking advantage of these special days at the Porter County Fair, especially designed for young people that might be under your care. The dates for these special events are Monday, July 25th thru Friday, July 29th from 12:00 noon to 6:00 p.m. On these days we are setting aside some time on the carnival midway for the youth of our area to enjoy their special time on the midway. The cost of the wristband for the six hour time slot on the midway has been set at $8.00 (normally $15.00) for young people affiliated with day care centers. The wristbands for the young people can be purchased between the hours of 11:45 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. when the group arrives at the fair on any one of the DAY CARE DAYS AT THE FAIR. This invitation letter, when presented at the carnival ticket office windows, will qualify your group for group purchases of the discounted wristbands. The Day Care Day Wristbands will qualify the young person wearing the wristband for all rides designed for their age group and size and, this year, qualifies the youngster to receive a free hot dog and cold drink provided by designated carnival concessions compliments of North American Midway Entertainment.

It is hoped that the special days provided as a cooperative venture between the United Way of Porter County, North American Midway Entertainment and the Porter County Fair Board will be of interest to day care center staff and young people. It is our hope that the children might sometime during their stay at the fair enjoy all the free entertainment that is provided at the fair, visit the TSC Porter County Barnyard Exhibit and visit the 4-H Exhibit Building and 4-H Animal Exhibits that are on the grounds. There will be plenty of food and drinks available for purchase for everyone and the new Indiana Furniture Central Picnic Park is available for groups to meet and to have food and drink, if they choose. Picnic meals are acceptable if a group wishes to bring their own meals.

Admission for the fair for children under 10 years of age is free each day of the fair and those 10 years of age and over must pay a $5.00 admission charge. However, the admission entries will not open until 1:00 p.m. on weekdays and your group will be admitted free of admission if you arrive before 1:00 p.m. If the group arrives after 1:00 p.m. the admission prices stated above will apply. We ask that Day Care Center personnel call 219-462-0321 (fair office) any week day from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to make arrangements for your group to participate in this special event and/or get additional information. When you call to make arrangements it is important that you give the fair staff the name of the group, the name of the contact person, the day you wish to participate and the approximate number of participants that will be included with the group and a phone number in case the fair needs to call the group for some reason.
