Police have been notified by numerous individuals reporting a subject falsely identifying themselves as a NIPSCO/NiSource employee requesting money for a past due account. These calls have been made to both residential customers and business accounts.
Individuals are getting a telephone call from an individual indentifying themselves as a NIPSCO employee. The caller then informs the individual that they are past due on their NIPSCO account and someone is coming out to their location to disconnect the power/gas unless they pay the amount owed to the caller on the phone.
If you receive a similar call you should contact NIPSCO directly and request information on your account from their customer service center. DO NOT provide credit card information or bank account information to anybody that cold calls you regarding your NIPSCO/NiSource account.
