The re-enactment will take place October 16 & 17 at the future site of the World Wars Memorial. The site will open at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday morning for camp visits. The Saturday re-enactment will take place at 2:00 p.m. with entertainment, food vendors and a beer garden. The evening will end with a bonfire. Families are encouraged to come and interact with the players and walk through the camps. Entertainment will be provided by Wolffgang, a female chorus group from Hobart High School and a DJ.

In 2003, the Crown Point Board of Works approved a lease that set aside nearly seven (7) acres of city-owned property at the intersection of 113th Avenue and U.S 231 for use as a future memorial to those who served in World War I and II. The VMPC has since unveiled a design for this site, which can be viewed on our website: www.vetparkway.us.

The WW Memorial represents our most ambitious plan. The design calls for a 300’ allee’ between two memorials for each war, with markers placed alongside to highlight major events from both wars, and the years in-between conflicts.

Additionally, the Veterans Memorial Trail is designed to wind through the property as an integral element of the design, and connect back to Clark Street along the abandoned rail right-of-way, affording safe, off-road access for Crown Point residents. An outdoor music amphitheatre is also planed for the site to provide a breathtaking venue for numerous civic functions.
