Chicago Street Theatre will bring Vegas to Northwest Indiana for a night of live entertainment, martinis, casino games and an array of prizes.
The event, called Encores: Vegas Baby!, is the theater’s annual fundraiser. It will take place this Friday at Strongbow Inn in Valparaiso at 7 p.m.
“It is our most important event from a fundraising standpoint,” said Director of Development Kelly Hite. “It helps us to keep our ticket prices low for all of our plays. Our box office revenue only covers 50 percent of our budget. Grants, fundraising, donations and sponsorships that makes up the other half.”
Encores: Vegas Baby! will feature a variety of casino games that offer “funny money” for winnings, which can then be used for a live auction later in the evening. More than 100 items have been donated to Chicago Street Theatre for the auction, including four one-day passes to Disney World, tickets and parking passes to a Cubs-Sox game, paintings and a variety of other items from area businesses and restaurants.
The fundraiser will also feature a live performance by The Djyama Show, which covers music from the Rat Pack era, a photo booth and appetizers. People will have the chance to enter a drawing for a piece of jewelry from Martin Binder Jeweler when they buy a martini as well.
Tickets cost $25 if purchased in advance, and $30 at the door. Chips for casino games cost an additional $20.
“This event has all the fun with little cost,” Hite said. “Where can you go to play casino games, eat fabulous food, enjoy live entertainment, buy a glowing martini, have a blast in our photo booth and browse our silent auction for a cost lower than entrance ticket to most fundraisers? It’s one of the best deals in town.”
