Zosso, Watson, lead Crusaders at Findlay Open

VU-Zosso-Watson-lead-Crusaders-at-Findlay-OpenThe Valparaiso men’s track and field team continued their busy indoor season on Friday with their fourth meet in four weeks at the Findlay Open.

Justin Zosso (Chesterton, Ind./Chesterton) continued his torrid stretch in the pole vault, winning his fourth title in five meets with his height of 4.60m/15-1. Alexander Watson (Canton, Ohio/ Tuscarawas Valley) took third in the event with a season best height of 4.45m/14-7.25, setting the third best mark in Crusader history.

Elijah Owen (LaPorte, Ind./LaPorte) finished second in high jump with a new season best of 1.75m/5-8.75. He also finished eighth in the pole vault (3.85m/12-07.5) and tenth in the 60m hurdle prelims (9.95).

Andrew Guzek (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) took sixth in the shot put with his toss of 14.74m/48-4.5 on his final attempt, setting a new season best and the fifth-best mark in Valpo history.

Gabriel Williams (Lombard, Ill./Glenbard South) finished fourth in the long jump with a season best jump of (6.21m/20-4.5) and in the triple jump (11.83m/38-9.75).

Anthony Franze (Gunter, Texas/Gunter) finished sixth in the 200 meter dash (23.38) and ninth in the 60m prelims (7.31), just missing out on the finals by .01.

Brandon Riley (Chicago, Ill./Morgan Park) had a pair of tenth place finishes in the 400 (52.86) and 60m (7.34). Ben Zibricky (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln Way Central) took seventh in the 800m (2:02.39).

In the 60m hurdles, Kevin Adamik (Elmhurst, Ill./York Community) set a new season best with his fifth place finish (9.07).

Valpo returns to action next Friday, Feb. 6, when they travel to South Bend, Ind. for the Meyo Invite.
